How it works
B2+$F$1 is the day the waiting period ends. EOMONTH moves to the last day of that month, and +1 gives the first of the following month. A. Rivera's 60 days end on March 6, so benefits start April 1. Keeping 60 in a cell lets you switch to 30 or 90 days.

In Google Sheets
The same formula works in Google Sheets: =EOMONTH(B2+$F$1,0)+1. We ran it in Google Sheets mode on the same data and it returns the same results.
Other ways to do it
Each one was run on the same example sheet.
| Formula | Result | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| =DATE(YEAR(B2+$F$1),MONTH(B2+$F$1)+1,1) | 4/1/2026, 5/1/2026, 6/1/2026… | Builds the first of the next month from the parts. |
| =EOMONTH(B2+$F$1-1,0)+1 | 4/1/2026, 5/1/2026, 5/1/2026…Different result | Counts the hire date as day 1 of the waiting period. L. Gomez starts May 1. |
Common mistakes
- Check your plan's wording. "First of the month after 60 days" and "on or after day 60" differ when the period ends on the 1st, as it does for L. Gomez.
=EDATE(B2,2)is two calendar months, not 60 days, and lands on the same day of the month rather than the 1st.
Try it yourself
Same data, empty answer cell. Your formula is graded instantly, then re-checked on changed data, so a typed-in number won't pass.
