How it works
MOD(3-MONTH(A2),3) is the number of months left in the quarter: 2 in January, 0 in March, 1 in May. EOMONTH moves that many months ahead and returns the month end, which is the quarter end.

In Google Sheets
The same formula works in Google Sheets: =EOMONTH(A2,MOD(3-MONTH(A2),3)). We ran it in Google Sheets mode on the same data and it returns the same results.
Other ways to do it
Each one was run on the same example sheet.
| Formula | Result | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| =DATE(YEAR(A2),ROUNDUP(MONTH(A2)/3,0)*3+1,0) | 3/31/2026, 3/31/2026, 6/30/2026… | Day 0 of the month after the quarter is the quarter's last day. |
Common mistakes
- For a fiscal year that starts in February, May or another month off the calendar quarters, use
=EOMONTH(A2,2-MOD(MONTH(A2)-start_month,3)). - Format the result as a date.
Try it yourself
Same data, empty answer cell. Your formula is graded instantly, then re-checked on changed data, so a typed-in number won't pass.
