How to check if all values in a range meet a condition in Excel
Formula (Excel and Google Sheets)
=IF(MIN(B2:E2)>=$I$1,"Passed all","Retake")Test the weakest value: =IF(MIN(B2:E2)>=$I$1,"Passed all","Retake"). If the lowest score passes, they all do.

The formula is already in F2, filled down to F7. Change any input and the result updates, or edit the formula to experiment.
How it works
"All at least 60" is the same as "the lowest is at least 60", so MIN reduces four tests to one. Cleo's two 60s meet the mark exactly. For a condition that isn't a number threshold, count the cells that fail instead (see the alternatives).
=IF(MIN(B2:E2)>=$I$1,"Passed all","Retake")Result"Passed all"
B2:E21 row × 4 cols: 72, 65, 80, 61A range: 4 cells in one row.
MIN(B2:E2)61MIN: Smallest number.- number1
B2:E21 row × 4 cols: 72, 65, 80, 61
- number1
$I$160The value in I1.
MIN(B2:E2)>=$I$1TRUEThe >= operator tests at least.
IF(MIN(B2:E2)>=$I$1,"Passed all","Retake")"Passed all"IF: Returns one value if a test is true, another if false.- logical_test
MIN(B2:E2)>=$I$1TRUE - value_if_true
"Passed all" - value_if_false
"Retake"not used
- logical_test
In Google Sheets
The same formula works in Google Sheets: =IF(MIN(B2:E2)>=$I$1,"Passed all","Retake"). We ran it in Google Sheets mode on the same data and it returns the same results.
Other ways to do it
Each one was run on the same example sheet.
| Formula | Result | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| =IF(COUNTIF(B2:E2,"<"&$I$1)=0,"Passed all","Retake") | Passed all, Retake, Passed all… | No failing cells means all pass. This pattern works for any COUNTIF condition, including text. |
| =IF(AND(B2:E2>=$I$1),"Passed all","Retake") | Passed all, Retake, Passed all… | AND over a range. Excel 365 and 2021 evaluate it directly; Google Sheets needs ARRAYFORMULA. |
Common mistakes
- MIN and COUNTIF skip empty cells, so a missing test looks like a pass. Add
COUNT(B2:E2)=4to the test if every score is required. - Scores stored as text are ignored by MIN. Convert the column to numbers first.
Try it yourself
Same data, empty answer cell. Your formula is graded instantly, then re-checked on changed data, so a typed-in number won't pass.
Check if all values in a range meet a condition
F2, show "Passed all" when every test score in B2:E2 is at least the pass mark in I1, otherwise "Retake". Fill down to F7.Questions
How do I check that every cell says Yes?
Compare the count with the number of cells: =COUNTIF(B2:E2,"Yes")=COLUMNS(B2:E2).
How do I check that all cells are filled in?
Use =COUNTBLANK(B2:E2)=0.
